Underline.jpg

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to a rather simple looking, basic cartographic task: create different underlinings (like in the example above) for dynamic labeling with Maplex. I experimented with marker text background, but the main problem here seems to be to get the length of dashed lines right.

I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.5 (switching to 2.6 the next days), as well as ArcMap 10.7.1.

Thanks for suggestions!

Hello Holger,

Varied underlining options are not currently available in ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, nor are they in the product plan.

Although not ideal, an option is for you to create these special underlined labels in a capable program, then import them as pictures. You could also achieve you goal by drawing lines in the layout, then manually formatting and dragging them where you would like.

If you have the time, I would recommend posting this on the Ideas page here on GeoNet, and maybe it is something we will see in the future.

Hello Taren,

thanks a lot. I will try your option, and see if it works for my workflows.
