Coordinate system does not update after using the Define Projection Tool

Good afternoon,

I am currently using a Single-Use license for ArcGIS 3.0 and I have some hydraulic modeling results in .nc format which I want to visualize. This is done quickly by importing the files as multidimensional raster, however the files have an unknown coordinate system assigned to them, which drops my maps in the ocean next to Africa while my research area is in Florida. I tried adjusting this projection to WGS84 by using the Define Projection Tool, but either one of two things happened:

1) The operation finishes, but nothing changes (the properties of the map also still show 'unknown coordinate system').

2) The ArcGIS Pro application just suddenly shuts down.

I was wondering whether there is another way to adjust the projection or whether there is a way to prevent these issues.

Thanks in advance.

I suspect you will have to convert *.nc data to another format.

And Define Projection only works when you wish to tell a dataset what it is, not what you want it to be.

If you are working ultimately with a raster format you can use

Project Raster (Data Management)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

to get it into the coordinate system that you want

... sort of retired...
