Hello. I have seen several tutorials on copying and pasting attribute data from one spatial feature to another spatial feature, but when I attempt to do this using non-spatial attributes from two tables, I receive the following: "There are no appropriate templates."
I am trying to copy some attributes from an Excel document to a related table in ArcGIS Pro. In the Editor Settings, I created the Field Mapping that matches the Target and Source fields. I start my editing session, highlight and copy the source attributes, but when clicking Paste Special, I receive the error every time.
I'm starting to think this copy/paste option might not be available for attributes in non-spatial tables but am not sure why. In my project, I have a survey polygon with a related 1:M table where I need to populate 50-125 tabular records for each spatial feature. The user would then use Field Maps to answer mostly Yes/No questions for each record in the related table. What I don't want to do is manually type in several hundred records one-at-a-time.
Any help would be most appreciated.
If you add the Excel table to the map, the Append GP tool will do that.

I'm thinking that because MS Excel files are read-only in ArcGIS Pro that likely there are some other nuances, like copy/paste, that will not work. What you could do is use the Export Table GP tool and export the Excel table to a geodatabase table. Then try to do the copy/paste workflow again.
