I want to model the disturbance caused by recreation on paths in a certain natural park. Therefore I have generated points along the paths of the park (every 25m), the points contain height data and classes that tell something about the number of people using the path (range of these recreation classes: 1-5). Using the point data and a layer with vegetation height, I managed to make a visibility raster (showing how many points you can see from different locations) with the help of the visibility tool. However I would still like to implement the recreation classes in the visibility raster. Ideally I would like the visibility layer to have a combined value of the number of points visible and the recreation class. I searched for a way to do this, but no tool or function does the job. Does anyone know of a ArcGIS tool or a method to achieve what I want, your help will be much appreciated!
I think what you might have to do is make a raster of your points for your recreation classes, and then add the 2 rasters together.
Yeah I tried that, but the raster of the recreation classes will only appear on the locations of the points and does not cover the area of the visibility layer. So the recreation classes can still not be connected to the visibility layer. I also tried using the visibility layer as extend and snap raster in the feature to raster tool, but this did also not work.
Try setting the Processing Extent and the Snap Raster to the visibility raster's extent. And then (and I think this is the key), set the No Data value in the Environments settings to 'Promotion'. Afterwards, I ran a Reclassify to set NoData to a value that would be useful to me in the raster calculator analysis with the larger raster.
