Are ArcGIS Pro layers (.lyrx) compatible with users who have ArcGIS Desktop (lyr)?

I know ArcGIS Pro can read .lyr files but many of the users in my area seem to be using ArcGIS Desktop and not Pro so if I ever do or share work with them I want to know if this is a problem or not.

*Sorry if this is already somewhere but I couldn't seem to find it

Best,

Bo!

no

Save To Layer File (Data Management)—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

Creates an output layer file (.lyrx) from a map layer. The layer file stores many properties of the input layer such as symbology, labeling, and custom pop-ups. Layer files saved from ArcGIS Pro cannot be used in ArcMap.
