Hello Pro Team,

It appears we may have discovered an issue. When exporting a pro layout with gradient fill, the export does not visualize correctly. After further testing it appears the issue is Gradient Fill with one transparent color and "Absolute Extent" on. Please see image below for settings and issue:

Update-

Contacted Esri support regarding this issue and turns out it is in fact a bug.

Here are the details for those who may also run into this issue-

Bug Number: BUG-000163691 Synopsis: Symbology is missing in the map when exported as a PDF file if using gradient fill symbology. Status: In Review
Additional Notes: The issue is resulting from changing the Extent in Gradient Fill settings to Absolute. The issue does not reproduce if use Relative Extent in the Gradient Fill settings. The issue does not reproduce when exported as Image (JPEG & JPEG 2000).

Hi, @Amanda__Huber! I just encountered the same issue in Pro 3.3, so apparently it's not fixed yet. Are you still experiencing the issue? Did you find a workaround?

I tried setting the gradient fill extent to "Relative," and that seemed to work for the PDF, but it made the legend item turn into a simple thin line with no visible gradient (sort of like what happened to the Absolute Extent gradient fill looked in the PDF). So for now I'm having to duplicate the layer in the legend and use the absolute one for the legend and the relative one for the map. Please let me know if you've come up with a less janky solution! 🙂
