ArcGIS Pr0 3.6 graphics hardware change error

I have been running 3.6 for a few weeks but had to go back to 3.5 due to it screwing over my laptop. I am running a Precision Dell 5690 with 64 GB, an RTX4000, and an Ultra 9.

I would keep getting the graphics hardware change error that tells me to close and open my views to fix it but that doesn't work. Mousing over the layout turns it black and when it does work, the layout doesn't show but instead fills it with some other window, explorer, desktop, outlook, whatever it decides at the time.

Changing to DirectX11 or 12 or OpenGL makes no difference. If I dedicate pro to use the RTX in settings, it still makes no difference.

The task manager stopped responding so I couldn't kill the pro process. In fact, the machine often didn't respond and required a few reboots to clear its head.

All firmware and software were updated but no avail. It was the same issue over and over. Rolled back to 3.5.4 and everything is normal.

I am not sure if anyone else has had this issue but potentially not worth going back to 3.6 at the moment. For me at least.

I did read some post about turning off hardware acceleration in the registry, I assume this is the same tick box in the settings in pro for the display but that made no difference regardless.

This is just a heads up for those that may be contemplating the upgrade and have perhaps similar specs. 🙂
