Add Spatial Join Tool starts at 4% and doesn't progress from there

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the Add Spatial Join tool. When I click on the run button, the progress bar is already at 4% progress, and never moves from there, no matter how long I wait.

I am joining a point layer (125 399 rows) to a line layer (10 243 rows) using the parameters:

• Target Feature : point layer
• Join Feature : line layer
• Match Option : Closest
• Matching Attributes : FacilityID (Join Field) to FacilityID (Target Field)

I've tried a whole bunch of solutions to try and solve this issue: tried matching text to text attributes, long to long attributes, line to point features, point to line features, deleted and regenerated the layers using the network analysis (closest facility) tool (and exporting both as new feature classes), created a smaller point subset (with 2500 points), recalculated the spatial index for each layer, checked my computer BIOS, cleared the ArcGIS local cache, turned off the parallel processing factor (in the Analysis Environments), restarted my computer, slapped the side of my screen, but still stuck at 4%, everytime.

I've got a brand new computer with 64GB RAM and Intel core Ultra 9 CPU, using the latest version of ArcGIS Pro (3.5.2).

Any ideas?

Hello @Tim_C , the documentation states that when using the Match Option of Closest, you should set the Search Radius (or Distance Field) too. Does setting that value help at all ?

"Closest—The feature in the join features that is closest to a target feature will be matched. ... Specify the distance in the Search Radius parameter."

Hi Chris, I tried adding a search radius distance, but the tool still starts and hangs at 4%.

UPDATE: The tools starts and hangs at 4%, but eventually completes it's task, when adding a distance in the search radius.

This is a long shot, but does your data have attachments? I've had tools hang because of that before.

You might get better ideas posting on the ArcGIS Pro board. I only saw your post because it's on the main feed right now, but once it drops off the first page or two, it's probably not going to get much traffic. This board (Community Feedback) is about the forum itself.

Hi Nicole, Ok thanks! I joined the community yesterday, and I didn't spot the ArcGIS Pro board in the dropdown menu when posting. To answer your question, no the dataset does not have attachments. Thank you for your help!
