I'm brand new to ArcGIS Pro having previously fiddled in Mapinfo for a short time. I'm struggling with a really simple task, namely

how to create a new table/layer from a selection of an existing feature on a source layer.

Any help in simpleton form would be appreciated

If you're looking for the classic "make layer from selection" without creating a new dataset, 2.1 finally has that option under Select in the rightclick menu.

That would be perfect but weirdly I don't seem to have that option when I select and then right click in 2.1

You have to select features in a featureclass, then right-click on the featureclass in the table of contents.

BTW!  This is in ArcGIS Pro 2.1
