3d line trace tool

Looks like the Trace tool to draw for a line along one or more features only works in 2D.

This should be possible also in 3D. In my case i have a trench with 3D information (pic 1) and need to draw the cables (pic 2) in 3D. The case is that i want to trace these 3D trench lines to create the Cables with same Z but a offset to right or left. The use surface or constant Z does not seem to be an easy way to do this. Anyone have a smart solution, or is this something that should be implemented as a 3D trace tool ?

Trace even says 2d only Select features interactively—ArcGIS Pro | Documentation

It sounds like you make have a candidate for an "Idea"
