Currently in Catalog Pane or Catalog View, when you right click on an SDE_compress_log table, you cannot view the table like you can a feature class. You either have to bring the table into a map and view from contents, or view the table in SQL. Please add the function in catalog to view this type of database table.
Thanks for this Idea @Brian_McLeer,
The SDE.compress_log table is an unregistered table only visible to the SDE user. Unregistered tables don't have an option to 'Open' in the context menu of the Catalog Pane like a registered table does. Adding this table to the map creates a query layer from the unregistered table which can be opened from the layers context menu in the content pane. This table cannot be registered with the database without causing the compress tool to error in certain RDBMS, therefore this Idea will not be implemented.
Users can view the table of the compress log through a query layer in a map or in the table tab of the Catalog View. When opening the Catalog View and selecting the SDE.Compress_log, the items table is accessible in the table tab, are you experiencing different behavior?
