a polygon is typically represented by a fill color and the boundary that defines it.  You can change the symbology based on the attribute of the polygon, but I would like to see the symbology of the polygon boundary be based on the attributes of the polygon to the left and right of the boundary.   For example, if you have a simple boundary for parcels, the resulting map is rather boring, but if the boundary symbology is topologically aware, the boundary could assign one line symbol for boundaries between parcels and another line symbol for boundaries between parcels and street right of way.  It would be nice to bring in just one feature class(polygons) instead of two (polygons and arcs) to accomplish this.
