I tried to add an Image Mosaic dataset that consists of about 100 image into ArcScene. When I tried to add it, it gave me an error saying that "Image datasets are not supported by ArcScene". Now I have to use the individual images and add them, then set the base height for each of them. This will obviously be very time consuming to add all the images. Fortunately I only have a small portion that I need to work on, but I still then have to check which images I need from the Mosaic dataset, then find them and add them to ArcScene.

It would be much easier if I were able to just add the Mosaic dataset into ArcScene.

I don't see why this wouldn't be an available feature. If mosaic datasets were created to make images/DEMs more accessible and faster to view, why not have this work in ArcScene?

Hi @JulianInskip

ArcGIS Desktop, which includes ArcScene, is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026 so we won’t be considering this idea. We recommend that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro, our fully supported desktop GIS application.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas. We truly appreciate your contributions to continuously improving the software to help you do your work and look forward to what ideas you have for ArcGIS Pro.
