Stop doing things in an Attribute table while changes to colours are made in Symbology

Currently Pro 3.3.1 seems to redraw and do things in an open attribute table while I am changing colours in the symbology tab.

Please add some logic to Pro that prevents it from doing things unrelated to what the user is busy doing.

I suspect it has to do with the Auto Apply of changes in symbology but still - changing a colour should not require me to wait while the attribute table is redrawn.

My thinking for your specific complaint is that it reloads the table upon re-rendering to see if anything has changed-- it has to check anyway, so it might as well get the latest. That being said, it is absolutely annoying. Out of curiosity, do things speed up when the table is closed and you chance the symbology?

You want to be extra annoyed?

It'll reload EVERY open attribute table whenever you change almost any property for a layer, regardless of whether that table view belongs to that layer. I reported this specific behaviour as a bug this UC 2024.

Hi @RTPL_AU,

This was fixed in Pro 3.4.

Thanks!

Hi @AlyciaRajendran_esri

In 3.5.3, while you are changing options in the Symbology pane, for most operations, the attribute table will still redraw. It only takes a split second for a small table but with a complex dataset with a few sorts etc, the time spent is measureable.

Please open the Idea again as it has not been implemented. I skipped 3.4.x so I cannot say if it worked for a bit before reverting back in 3.5.x

Regards,

Chris
