It would be great if the attribute table could have a function to search, and thus filter, fields. If my attribute table has 50 fields, it is difficult to scroll through them all to find the one I'm looking for. It would be immensely helpful to have a search function that would either pull you over to the field, or filter all the fields down to only the ones with matching names.

Yes please, this would be so helpful especially when tables swell to 250 + fields, with similar names but different prefixes and suffixes.

This would be really helpful! The current best option is to sort the fields alphabetically, but if saved, that permanently reorders the fields. Search / filter would be much better.

I think the best solution would be to move you to the field as in some datasets its quite useful to know what is before and after (I'm thinking census data).

Hiding fields or moving to the front (e.g. next to OBJECTID) is likely to confuse things in.

FYI if you are in Fields View check out the filter on the ribbon that filters down the rows, but that's no use if you are in table view mode....
