ArcGIS Pro should retain layers in the map even when the underlying data source is temporarily deleted, for example, during geoprocessing tasks that regenerate or update the data source. The layer should be marked as "LOST" instead of being removed from the map. Once the data source with the same name becomes available again, the layer should automatically reconnect without losing any of its properties (such as symbology, labels, scale ranges, etc.). This feature would significantly improve workflows where data sources are regularly updated or recreated, reducing the need for manual reconnection and reconfiguration.
