A common field work flow for gathering 3D information for Sewer and Storm Water utilites is to take a GPS shot on the lid, and measure down from the rim elevation to pipe inverts and recording the measure down distances as an attribute. The "Feature to 3D by Attribute" tool in ArcPro, allows you to calculate the z Geometry of a feature class from attribute fields. In this example, the Upstream elevation and Downstream Elevation of the pipes, however when executing the tool, it requires exporting the results to a new feature class. An enhancement to the tool to calculate the z Geometry to the current feature class being used would be great.
You can't convert the same feature class from 2D into 3D. In order to convert one to the other a new feature class is required.
This is a geodatabase/featureclass design limit. You can't convert the same feature class from 2D into 3D. In order to convert one to the other a new feature class is required.
