It seems that if you add a web link into the metadata, when you click on it the web page opens inside ArcGIS Pro in the metadata view. I have just upgraded to ArcGIS Pro 3.0.3 but it was doing the same thing in earlier versions.
This would be fine - but can we please have a 'back' button to get back to the actual metadata? Currently you either have to remember to right click and 'Open link in mew window' or you have to go to the metadata of another layer and then come back. If you open the link in an other window it also not very helpful as there are no web controls to navigate the web site. If I click on a link within the web page it's still actually inside an ArcPro window and I don't have the back button in there either to go back to a previous web page.
Ideally - can we just go back to how it was working before where the web page opened in an actual web browser? Seems easier all round.
Hello @MicheleH1_DNReply ,
Thank you very much for your feedback. What you saw is actually a bug that we are working on fixing. In the meantime, you can use this workaround: when the linked page unexpectedly opened in the metadata view, right click somewhere on that page, and click Back in the context menu that comes up:
This should get you back to the metadata display for the selected item.
Thank you again for helping us improve ArcGIS Pro, and we look forward to more of your ideas.
Hi @MicheleH1_DNReply per Naicong's comment below, after reviewing the behavior we determined it was a bug, so will be working on it under [BUG-000157062: The linked page for a hyperlink in metadata unexpectedly opens inside the Catalog view Details panel in some workflows.]
Please use the workaround that she has provided until the bug is fixed.
Thank you!
Awesome - thanks for looking into this. I didn't know if it was a bug or a 'feature'! 🙂
Update https://support.esri.com/en-us/bug/the-linked-page-for-a-hyperlink-in-the-metadata-opens-i-bug-00015... will be fixed in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 scheduled for release on Oct/Nov.
