How many of us grew up on using game controllers? How many of us have an Xbox or a Playstation controller lying around? How many of us are comfortable navigating 3D space in a video game?

I bet the answer is most of us, a lot of us.

Please add game controller support to ArcGIS Pro 3D scenes. I believe that using a game controller instead of a standard mouse will make it easier to position a viewpoint in that environment. Let's be honest, it won't just make it easier for those that are comfortable with the game controller, it will also be fun. Google Earth has a flight simulator mode baked in--using a game controller in ArcGIS Pro would let us experience our data in a flight simulator-like way. Think about the Animate camera feature in Pro, using the game controller we wouldn't be limited to animating using keyframes--we could just fly through!

It’s great to see your enthusiasm for integrating game controller support into ArcGIS Pro 3D scenes! Your idea of using a game controller for navigating 3D space is compelling, especially for those who are accustomed to such devices from gaming. Game controllers could indeed provide a more intuitive and immersive experience, making it easier to position viewpoints and navigate complex 3D environments.

Adding this feature would not only cater to those familiar with game controllers but also introduce a fun and dynamic way to interact with spatial data. The ability to fly through scenes and animate camera movements in a more fluid manner would be a significant enhancement. It’s worth proposing this feature to Esri’s development team, as it could greatly benefit users and enhance the overall experience with ArcGIS Pro.
