Please add an information line to the window title bar (e.g.; MyMap.mxd (v9.3) - ArcMap - ArcInfo) that shows the .mxd version the document was saved as.  This is very important as for some reason ArcGIS 10 automatically upgrades .mxd docs to v10 if you use the regular save button.

In our shop, we actively use ArcGIS 9.2, 9.3.1, and 10 on different machines to support applications that need a particular version.  Having the MXD version shown in the title bar would aid in our ability to keep things well organized.

ArcGIS Desktop is in mature support and will be retired March 1, 2026 so we won’t be considering this idea. We recommend that you migrate to ArcGIS Pro, our fully supported desktop GIS application. See Migrate from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro for more information. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas. We truly appreciate your contributions to continuously improving the software to help you do your work and look forward to what ideas you have for ArcGIS Pro.
