Line/polygon extension to stop as far as a selected vertice when creating or reshaping

I often need to extend a line or reshape a polygon to align with another neighbouring polygon. Sure, I can use parallel, perpendicular, distance, and direction but I am not able to easily limit the extent or place the new vertice to be in line with another vertice. Useful for being able to line up something and then have it make a seamless snap to the other line segment.

The usual hack for this is to overshoot and create a larger than required polygon then split it in line with the intended segment. These are time consuming steps.

Surely we can have a nice option to limit the length of the movement to be in line with a selected element. That would something I am sure a lot of people would like.

Hi @BCIGIS

You should be able to accomplish this using Inference.  I am providing a link to a blog and the Help topic:

https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis-pro/data-management/introducing-editing-with-infere...

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/inference-constraints.htm

Please let me know if Inference will work or if you would like additional input on your scenario.
