Using arcpy to check product and licensing information returns outdated and confusing results. Literals and return values for arcpy.ProductInfo, arcpy.ListInstallations, and arcpy.CheckProduct specifically all use ArcView, ArcEditor and ArcInfo values. This leads to confusion when ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro are both installed, and should be updated to line up with ArcGIS Pro naming convention for licensing: Basic, Standard and Advanced . This is especially true as ArcGIS Desktop is reaching end of life, which may cause further confusion moving forward over use of the outdated terms especially for those that will be unfamiliar with ArcGIS Desktop.
