Yet another infuriating thing about making layouts in ArcGIS - every time you go to properties, it puts you on the page setup tab. The Map Properties box does NOT behave like this; it remembers your last location.

When you navigate to other tabs, it also does not remember the expand/collapse state of the various items. Instead, it defaults to "whatever Esri picked to be open." Esri keeps a lot of things collapsed, which is really quite frustrating -- lots of extra clicks every single time you happen to need something in one of the sections Esri thinks you won't be using so often. This is especially annoying considering this is a modal window.
