Keep all text fields active when switching applications

If I have my cursor in a text field, keep my cursor in it when I come back to the application. For example, if I am editing the output feature class...

...and I alt-tab over to another application to Ctrl+C my output string, and alt-tab back to Ctrl+V it, that box should still be active. Currently, it deactivates, and in this example, you have to hit Tab 9 times to get back to the field you were editing, which is a huge drag on efficiency.

A few areas of the application appear to do this just fine, so please implement that consistently so that keyboard users can actually use it.
