Under the Measure distance tool I would like it to be possible to check the distance perpendicular to a line from a known point or object. Many times I would like to check a distance from a known object such as a building or structure to the existing boundary line of a parcel. I do not believe Arcmap had this option either. There would need to be a perpendicular option under the Snapping options.
