I often work in server space and with tools created for other projects and stored in those project spaces. As a result my ArcCatalog Catalog Tree has many folder connections and working in multiple connections at once can get unruly. It would be great if I could create an ArcCatalog bookmark to a subfolder or tool within a Folder Connection instead of having to create a new Folder Connection to that place. This would be useful when I am working on multiple projects at once and want to collapse project folder connections to keep my Catalog Tree manageable, but need to remember exactly where in the folder connection hierarchy I was working or where a particular tool is stored. I hope this makes sense. I basically want to be able to set a bookmark to a particular subfolder or tool in a Folder Connection and have the Catalog Tree open to that location when I select the bookmark.
Anybody with me here.
There are no plans to support bookmarking items in the Catalog pane and Catalog view in ArcGIS Pro. However, ArcGIS Pro already provides capabilities that support the workflow described here.
Each project can have its own project-specific folder connections, and folders you always use can also be added to your My Favorites collection. Additionally, you can open multiple Catalog views at once in the same project. This means you can be working with server items in one Catalog view, a favorite database's items in a different Catalog view, and project-specific folder items in another Catalog view. When you save a project, it will reopen all Catalog views to their last location.
This means if you are managing items in one location and have a need to switch gears, you can open another Catalog view to do that work without losing your place.
