I would like to see support for direct connections to ftp sites. This would allow direct access and download capabilities for files (like imagery or LIDAR tiles) and would facilitate working with them directly in ArcCatalog, Model Builder, etc. Basically, it would be nice to treat an ftp site like a Folder Connection.
