Simply put, I'd like to be able to pull values for the eyedropper tool from places that are not a map or layout view.

Use case examples:

  •  want to make my fill match my stroke color. I use the eyedropper on the stroke layer in the symbology pane.
    eyedroppersymbology pane.gif
  • I want to use my eyedropper to match the color a symbol in the contents pane. eyedroppercontentspane.gif

As visible from both of the provided gifs, neither behavior is viable right now.

I'd really like to be able to grab from any part of the Pro application: panes, ribbons, views. THis would really simplify my workflow in a lot of cases.

The current alternatives are to copy symbology, or open the color properties for a given object and copy the hex code, but that's clunky.

Last week I was determined to use the eyedropper to make symbology of two layers with unidentical fields/values match and I ended up scouring the map for a feature the right color because I couldn't just click on the symbol classs in the contents pane.

Can I kudos this twice?

Having it grab any colour from anywhere on screen (i.e. outside the app window) is first prize.

They can copy the functionality be inspired by the functionality in CorelDraw. You can eyedrop from anywhere on screen and decide into which palette the colour goes.

Here here!

Did Pro 3.5 add some copy+paste functionality for symbology between layers that wasn't there before? I don't have it installed right now so I can't check.

@RTPL_AU I'd also happily take it from anywhere on screen haha.

@Town_of_Fuquay-Varina_GIS Copy-->Paste Properties is really cool, but it's more for things like "I have two layers pointing to the same source/tables with the same schema", so it doesn't really help in cases like mine, which are frequently "One state's ownership table uses 'SURF_MAN' and the second's uses 'SURFACE_MAN' and State1 says 'Department of Defense' while State2 says 'DOD'". It'd be one thing you could change the field a the symbology is pointing to without overwriting your current symbology (I've complained about this before as an Arcade thing, but it's really an issue with symbology on a whole), but since that isn't possible, Paste Properties is not helpful in many of my usecases.

@Town_of_Fuquay-Varina_GIS  @AlfredBaldenweck  If you copy properties a lot you have to get XTools Pro.
It makes the process more granular:

Copy all gives:

You can paste against multiple layers, etc.

Unfortunately it also suffers from the Pro 3.5.x Copy Freeze bug once it starts happening ☹️

Unfortunately we are not able to get it in my organization anymore, but it really does have some nice functionality.
