Drag GDB from Catalog to GP parameter — Suffix path with .GDB

When I copy a geodatabase path from Catalog using the Copy Path context-menu option, the path includes .gdb:

However, if I drag the geodatabase from Catalog down to the Geoprocessing pane tab, then into the GP tool parameter, the resulting path doesn't include .gdb, so it is automatically suffixed with .shp.

Could that behavior be changed so that dragging and dropping behaves the same way as Copy Path, so that the full geodatabase path is brought over including .gdb? That would be more useful and consistent.
