The stylesheet that displays metadata on the ArcCatalog description tab (and from context menu on layers in maps) does not include any dates if the metadata is in FGDC CSDGM format. The publication date and time period of content dates are crucial bits of information, much more so than a lot of the information that does show up in the FGDC stylesheet (at the top), or in the minimal Description stylesheet. Please incorporate the dates.
