This is a long-awaited feature: to not have to check the "Allow assignment of unique numeric IDs for sharing web layers" button every single time we want to publish a web map.
Is there a reason why this is defaulted to be off? And is there a reason why we cannot have this setting set globally in the options settings?
Despite publishing over 200 web maps, I still forget that I need to manually change this setting. I believe this is one simple option that would make a lot of users very, very happy.

Are there certain scenarios where this updated setting would cause issues?
We encourage users to consider assigning layer IDs as a step in the process of authoring maps for publishing. This ensures that the layer IDs are consistent and can be accurately referenced in web maps or applications. The analyzer error helps to prevent issues when overwriting services and alert users of this setting. This blog article and this ArcGIS Pro topic has some additional info that may be helpful.
