Catalog Pane Popup Window Needs to Include Summary
The Catalog Pane pop-up that appears when you hover over a layer shows the file name, type, modified date and location. Could you add the Summary? That would be most helpful. If it would take up too much screen space, I don't need the Location. I'm in Catalog Pane. I'm looking at it! It would save time Viewing the Metadata.
I agree that this would be extremely helpful. I would also propose that when creating a new feature class, we should be prompted to enter an optional summary without having to go through the separate steps of creating metadata. That summary could then be viewed and edited in the layer properties, as well as in the tooltip.
In my organization, we have hundreds of simultaneous projects going at a time, and frequently more than one person will work in each project as requests come in from our other disciplines. Giving us a quick and easy way to leave short notes for other project contributors (and to view those notes without having to open metadata) about the origins or appropriate uses of a layer would be incredibly helpful.
