Better lighting options for 3D scenes. Add more flexibility how materials react to lighting.

Brian,

Can you please clarify what lighting options you wish to see in addition to what is already implemented?  This will help us respond to your request.

The Graphics engine in Pro scenes does already support realistic lighting, for items which support these properties natively (glTF Markers, 3d Object Feature Layers).  The 3d styles (transportation, etc.) in Pro styles that ship with the product do have PBR (physically based rendering) properties for several releases now.

We do also apply static PBR properties to 3d objects which do not have them natively, to enhance users ability to discern their shapes.

In the scene, you can enable atmospheric simulation as well as lighting based on time/date, shadows can be enabled, etc.  By default ambient occlusion is on, but it can be toggled off if desired.

The ground surface itself supports both ambient occlusion and shading based on lighting.  It is off by default.

For point cloud and LASD you can enable an enhanced lighting option called Eye Dome Lighting, which enables users to better see the shape of their dense point cloud data.

Regards,

Jeremy W.

Hi @BrianE1 I wanted to check back to see if you could provide any more details on this idea. If so, please let us know and once it is clear what is being requested we can re-open the idea. Thank you
