ArcGIS Pro 2.9.5 and 3.4.2; file geodatabase
In the attribute table, I want to select a portion of a text value, right-click the selected text, and copy it to the clipboard. Copying the selected text works using CTRL+C, but using the mouse to right-click the selected text has no effect other than exiting out of the selected cell, which is not expected.
Video (Pro 2.9.5):
Use case: The user has mobility issues in their left hand, and wants to use the mouse in their right hand as much as possible, such as to copy text. Or, some users just prefer to use the mouse instead of keyboard shortcuts.
Right-clicking text to copy it is a standard workflow in Windows software, so I think Pro should be enhanced so that it works in this case too.
Edit:
Esri Case #03836435 - Attribute Table: Can't copy selected text from cell value using right-click
BUG-000174722: In ArcGIS Pro, it is not possible to copy a portion of a text value in a layer's attribute table using a mouse.
I don’t think I agree with flagging this idea as already offered. It’s not already offered in the attribute table, which is where I work. I don’t edit individual records, so I don’t work in the attribute pane. I query data, join data, and do field calculations, so I work in the attribute table. It seems obvious to me that I should be able to copy text the way I’ve described in the attribute table.
@Bud fair enough that you prefer using the Table while you perform those tasks. The only thing I'd add is that we made recent change to improve bulk attribute editing experience in the Attribute Pane. Check it out.
