Apply Symbology changes — without needing to change textbox focus

In a layer's symbology, I've changed a setting in a textbox (the Dash template setting):

In order to apply the change, I need to click outside of the text box in order to remove focus from that textbox (aka stop editing the textbox). Otherwise, I can't hit Apply to save the changes; the Apply button is greyed-out.

That's annoying. Could that behavior be changed?

Pro could use something like this:

(From Excel's PivotTable Fields editor - check the box to turn off auto-commit, keep it unchecked to apply edits instantly)

If Pro just had a checkbox for 'Auto-Apply' down there, and saved your preference at the application-level, that would be swell.
