The Append tool always opens with "Input fields must match target fields" as the default for Field Matching Type.
For teams that routinely work with datasets of varying schemas, this default is wrong almost every time and adds unnecessary friction.
We should be able to set a persistent user or project preference so the tool opens with "Use the field map to reconcile field differences" by default, similar to how other application preferences are managed.
