Good morning, good afternoon, and good night to all those globetrotting hardworking folks who are working around the clock on ArcPro.

I have an idea, theoretically simple, but probably never going to happen. Hence my flourish, in order to make this post fun, if not fruitful.

When I use the altkey to open Geoprocessing (I'm that lazy, that I hit alt-A-TS or alt-V-TS, I presume depending on which finger I choose to hit the alt key with), the Geoprocessing searchbar only activates if certain prior conditions seem to be met, ie if I haven't yet opened Geoprocessing, or if I previously used the searchbar and left the cursor there (though testing this out yields different results), etc. Basically, it would be superdeduper awesome if, when I used the hotkey for Geoprocessing (or for the Catalog Pane) the search bar automatically activated, so I can continue to sit lazily back in my chair without ever having to lean forward and use exercise my poor tactile skillset on my mouse.

I am sure that our geoprocessing team will take a look at this. In the meantime, can I offer a couple of thoughts to help you be even lazier? (because personally hitting Alt and then A and then TS sounds absolutely excruciating to me).

1. Add the Tools command to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Then hit Alt and the number (6 in my example):

So we've just saved a couple of clicks to aid in your laziness (ahem, increase your productivity!)

2. But why settle for that? Have you tried Alt+Q to launch Command Search?

Because you can just search for your GP tool there without even having to first launch the GP pane...

Anyway, like I said, just hoping to aid in your efforts to remain as supine as possible while using ArcGIS Pro!

Hi coolflippers,

When the Catalog pane is in focus, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F puts the cursor in the search box. This shortcut was added at version 3.1. Other catalog-related shortcuts are documented at ArcGIS Pro keyboard shortcuts.

Following and kudos as I stand in solidarity with my fellow lazy-but-super-productive ArcGIS Pro sisters and brothers.

Also, I need about a million of those links to keyboard shortcuts to remind myself to look for more hidden gems. But SOLIDARITY first and foremost!

All, I got lost somewhere in time between posting this and getting back to this. I can't kudo all your responses, the thumbs-up isn't there, maybe this post expired, but thank you very much. I will play around with the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar, pronounced 'kwat').

I have started to use alt-q. I hardly ever touch my mouse now.

Glad that the comments were helpful @coolflippers You can't kudo comments on Idea posts because we don't want there to be ambiguity in what community members are "up voting." Kudos are only for the idea itself and are what we monitor on the product side to help us gauge demand.

I'm closing this idea as Alt+Q is the quickest way to search directly for a gp tool without even having to open the pane first.

Thank you!
