So far ArcGIS Pro only allows PostGIS support in an internal network (via vpn, Arcgis Sever u.a.) or locally (LAN) with Database Connection methods “Database Connection” and “Operating system authentication”. For users working remotely (extern from network at different spatial locations) it is not possible to connect directly to a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database.
We propose an additional Authentication method for PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases via certificates (for example PKI-PKCS#12). Then users do not need a vpn connection to load data from a remote database and also can easier work at home.
