A "Count Distinct" operation should be incorporated into the Summary Statistics and Dissolve tools in ArcGIS. This enhancement would allow users to easily calculate the number of unique values for a specific field within grouped data. Currently, achieving this requires workarounds or additional geoprocessing steps, which adds unnecessary complexity and processing time.
This is a very common operation in data analysis workflows. Including a native "Count Distinct" function would significantly streamline workflows and improve efficiency for users across a wide range of applications.
This small addition would have a big impact on productivity and data clarity. I strongly believe it would be widely appreciated by the ArcGIS user community.
Hi Albert
The ability to calculate Unique values is very much part of these two tools, and I use it quite a bit. I agree that it is very important functionality in our workflows.
Can you not see the Unique option?
@Merv You are absolutely right. I wasn't aware this was already introduced. Still bridging from ArcMap to Pro, It was not possible in previous versions. I fast checked it again specifically looking for "count distinct" and I missed it.
