I find that every now & then I want to change the data source of a layer in a map and realise I have not added a database (FGDB typically) or a folder to the project while browsing for the source.

Please add the ability to right click a folder or fgdb in the file browser window and add it to the project.

For me these are typically additional folders or databases such as updated government reference data, temporary processing folders, etc. that I may use a few times and it will be faster to have them in the Project section of the file browser.

This doesn't replace any of the other methods of adding stuff to a project; just makes this one incidental discovery of need a bit easier to digest and more efficient.

I'm looking for an option to add a folder connection from the 'Add Data' and similar dialog boxes. ArcMap has this capability - see attached.

The lack of this ArcMap-era functionality persists into ArcGIS Pro 3.0.1 - no toolbar icon, nor is there an option in the context menu. I even tried dragging a folder over to the Folders (folder connections) area but it appears dragging is disabled entirely for some reason (can't even move data between folders).

@KoryKramermay be able to update you on the status of this idea. Several members of the Core team were interested in adding additional context menus from what I can recall from the ESRI 2022 Pro Q&A. I just don't know exactly how these ideas get passed onto them formally for defining new development goals.

I support this idea as I did my previous thread which also included native mouse support for forward/backward navigation of 'Add Data' directory. (Previous Thread)

This is so annoying to deal with.

1) It was already an ArcMap capability

2) I'm browsing the folder anyway, just let me add the ones I care about while I'm there, please!

Why do I need to do things in two different places when I could do them in just the one? (I am not at all suggesting we do away with the other methods of adding folder connections, for the record)
