Shouldn't either the Reconstruct from Seeds or Reconstruct Boundaries tool split lines?

When doing a simple quality driven work flow to move an existing parcel line, my end result is seeing certain parcel lines labeled that I'm not sure why they're being labeled or I need to figure out the work flow to keep them from being labeled. The line highlighted is being moved north 53 ft. using the copy parallel tool after selecting parcel 1.010 and 1.013 and shrinking to seed.

Here's the parcel features for parcel 1.013 before the split:

Here's the parcel features for parcel 1.010 before the split:

Here's the parcel features for parcel 1.013 and parcel 1.010 after the running the copy parallel tool and reconstructing from seeds tool, why do they contain these extra lines?.  Shouldn't the tool have split the parcel lines where the new line was created?

So when I run the reconstruct boundaries tool on just parcel 1.013, I get lines (highlighted) that I don't' really need or want labeled.

I seem to run into issues more and more with labeling due to the fact that certain clients I deal with still use annotation in conjunction with labeling and it gets confusing in certain situations where one might want to run a reconstruct boundaries on a single parcel while avoiding neighboring parcels, if that's even possible.  There's also the issue where they don't need parcels greater than 5 acres labeled.

If I understand you correctly, your expectation is that after you create a new parallel line 53 feet and press Reconstruct from Seeds' the new line will split the existing lines on its sides.

If you want that type of behavior (not everybody does) you can use the editing tool Planarize before you press Reconstruct From Seeds.
Another tool that might be interesting to get a label on every parcel edge is to use the Reconstruct Boundaries tool on a parcel.

I hope this helps

Robert,

I just sent you an email. We can manipulate BC's code for the Ac. Try removing the existing points. We run into this every so often depending on how the mapper executes the split.

Amir,

Yes, that was my expectation.  Thinking that the Reconstruct from Seeds would see that there's a intersection and therefore create the split for me.  Like you mention, running the Planarize before the Reconstruct from Seeds essentially solves the problem in this scenario.

Thanks,

Robert.
