Due to the requirements of the survey plans we integrate into our parcel fabric, we have many parcels with a complex series of connection lines or very long connection lines. These surveyed connection lines are required to tie parcels in more remote areas to available control, or to retrace existing boundaries in the surveyed area. When adding new parcels, we would like to use the Align Parcel tool to integrate the new data with the underlying parcel fabric, however connection lines are not moving with the alignment.
Since the connection lines typically are not contained in the buffer generated by the align parcels tool, they do not move when it is applied. The only way to bring the connection lines into alignment is to use the mean points tool or transform tool after the align parcel process is complete.
Currently the workflow to complete this task in ArcGIS Pro is as follows:
Since most plans that we receive have additional linework, we would be required to use this workflow frequently, and although it is functional it is a cumbersome process when working with parcels with many connections, for example the following:
As an example, you can see in the image below that the plan goes beyond the boundaries of the four new parcels and resurveys some boundaries and some connections.
When the alignment buffer is created, some of the additional lines fall outside of it, which results in some of them moving while others stay where they are. Since these are all being brought in on the same plan, it is necessary for them all to move in the alignment.
After the align (within the buffer):
After the align outside the buffer:
The desired functionality would be the ability to include all the lines associated to a new record in the alignment in order for them all to move, including boundary lines and connection lines. Extending the buffer to include connection lines during an alignment would significantly reduce the effort currently required to bring in new plans.
This is a good news that it's in production.
Thanks,
Glad to see this is in a product plan. We are having issues going from Map to Pro fabric with these lines and alignment also.
