I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for which method is most efficient for measuring road widths in a given area, whether it's a specific tool or otherwise. I have a road centerline .shp, and could import a curbline .shp from autocad (if necessary). I am using arcdesktop v. 10.5.1 (and have also been meaning to download and start working with ArcPro as well).
Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Thanks,

Hi Matthew,
Are you looking to calculate the road length or road width? If it's the latter, the road shapefile will need to be a polygon geometry type. Take a look at the following help document on how to calculate geometry using ArcGIS Pro:
I'm Calculating Road Width. I can certainly try to create a closed polygon from the road edge/curb line .shp. Is there a lot of variability with the attached method? AKA, can you pick specific pts on the road polygon to create a measurement? Or is it run at standardized pts?
Thanks & I'll investigate the link.
