What do the upper case numbers signify to the right of a field in the Experience table widget?

In my table widget I have two fields from over 20 that have either a one or a two in upper case next to the sort arrows.

What do they mean any why do they change from 1 to 2 when I sort?

It looks like it's sorting by multiple columns, with the numbers indicating the sorting order, first by the field "Stadt..." then by "Anzahl...".

It is now possible to sort a table with multiple fields at the same time using multi-level sorting. In the example below, the table is first sorted by the BoroughID field, then by the number of LOT.
