Ungroup TileLayer in Map Viewer ?

Hello everyone,

After posting on the ArcGIS Enterprise Community without any results, I’m trying my luck with you, ArcGIS Online users.

I am working on a web map in Map Viewer that contains a large number of layers, including Feature Layers and Tile Layers. This requires organizing all these layers using groups and subgroups. For Feature Layers, there is no issue — I can move them wherever I want. However, for Tile Layers, it is more complicated.

Above is a Tile Layer called “Carte du Rhône de Avignon à Lapalud (1834)”, which consists of a mosaic named “Archives_Nationales_1834”.

I am wondering why it is not possible to move the mosaic outside of its original group, as can be done with Feature Layers ?

Thanks in advance!

You are trying to remove the mosaic “Archives_Nationales_1834” out of the group called "Carte du Rhône de Avignon à Lapalud (1834)"? So the goal is that the “Archives_Nationales_1834” is its own group instead of being a subgroup?
Cant you just ungroup the "Carte du Rhône de Avignon à Lapalud (1834)" layer?

Hi James, sorry for the delay.

Yes, I am trying to move “Archives_Nationales_1834” and ungroup “Carte du Rhône de Avignon à Lapalud (1834)”, but it’s not possible. There is no similar option when right-clicking, and when I try to move the layer, I get this small :prohibited: icon.

When publishing, the Tile Layer seems to generate a group that contains the raster itself. ArcGIS Online or Enterprise probably treats this Tile Layer as a single layer.

Here is the response from another user: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-enterprise-questions/ungroup-tilelayer-in-map-viewer/m-p/168903...
