Setting projection, coordinate system for AGOL layers

Hello, I notice that when creating a blank layer in AGOL to add features to, it doesn't allow option to set a specific Spatial Reference (SR). I am wondering if this is possible as I am moving back and forth between ArcGIS pro and AGOL to edit and view layers I create and don't want to run into alignment issues later. Once an AGOL layer is added to a Pro project, I don't get the same options to set/change the SR information. Am I missing something? Does the AGOL layer automatically inherit the SR properties of the map frame that I bring it into?
