Hi,

I know how to configure a pop up in a map one at a time.

I have a few layers used commonly by different service areas within my organisation. Is there a way to set the pop ups for these layers so when you add them to a map it's already configured. I.E like a layer file in ArcGIS desktop where you set the symbology, labels etc then drop in to ArcMap and it's already set rather than set every time you make a map. I saw an old post from 2014 asking the same question but nothing else.

Thanks

Mark

Hey Mark,

You can in fact save the pop-up configuration (and style) for any hosted feature layer.  Once you configure the pop-up for a layer in a web map simply click the More Options button in the Contents section for that particular layer and select Save Layer.  Next time you add this layer to a new map the pop-up configuration will be the same.

You can configure popups Configure pop-ups—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

You can configure layers to show popups Configure layers—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

and you can view popups View pop-ups—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

What exactly is the combination you are wanting to do?

Hi,

I want to configure the pop up's  once - like a global setting not every time I create a new map.

I have a map called Admin boundaries whereby I added some Ward boundaries and Parish Boundaries and configured the pop ups. I now want to create a map called elections that need to show Ward and Parish boundaries as well. If I create the new elections map  and add the Ward and Parish layers in again I have to set the pop ups all over again - is there a way to have the pop up's pre-set at a global level

New to AGOL so if my way of working is incorrect I would be grateful of any advice.

Thanks again,

Mark

like a default map which you have configured and saved, then resave under a different name

Hi,

OK thanks, I need to figure out the best way to build my data inventory in AGOL

I have been adding in individual feature layers to my content before adding those feature layers to a map but if I add one of those feature layers to any new map I have to re do the pop ups. From what you say I think I will have to create individual maps to enable me to configure pop ups on a one time only basis. Just seems strange having lots of maps with one layer in them.

hey ya'll this is slightly different question, but is there a way to turn popups on for all layers?  I have a service with 500 layers that all need popups. Thanks! If not, hope they can add it in an update.

Hi,

when I add a layer to my content I configure each layer for a pop up. Then when I add that layer to a map /app the pop up is configured and enabled by default. At some point you will have to configure the layer for a pop up - unless you accept the default values and field names.
