Is there any way to search by attributes on viewer or explorer online?

Well, you could symbolize a layer by an attribute field...

In explorer online, you can generate a query.

Other than a query, is there no other way to just type in an attribute and it be found?

Well then.... That would be a good feature to have since I work for the DOTD in LA and we have a lot of features to look through. Thanks for replying quickly.

I agree.  A search tool that would allow me to search for a feature attribute of one of the map services that I have published at ArcGIS.com would be very useful.  For example, I have published a map service of land parcels and I would to to be able to search by the land parcel ID.  Apparently this is not possible at this time.

Best regards,
Bernie.

This may help, but I recently built a composite locator that indexed the field that I wanted to search.  I published it as a locator service and placed it in the html file of the arcgis.com webservice.  It works great but you have to host the site yourself.
