The link URL provided by DropBox is a link to a page that shows the image, not the actual image data. I did find that if I right-click the image I am able to get a URL that will resolve to the actual image.

See this related post.

Dropbox works, you just have to get the right URL. When you right click the image in the browser, the browser will present options to copy the URL, etc. depending on the browser. The URL that worked for me is one that looks something like this:

There are other photo hosting websites, like Flickr, Microsoft, Google, but you often have to do the same thing to get the actual image URL, because most go to a page in the website that displays the image. These companies typically want you to view the image on their page so that they can put ads on the page. They make it hard to get at the actual image data.

Thanks,

Mike
