Hi there,

I have published this already in the old forum, and would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

I've published and shared a AGX presentation (.nmf) at: http://www.arcgisonline.com/home/item.html?id=d0d46fa80ff6427cacfc5d2333bdc50d

When I try top open it, there is an error message:
https://ago-item-storage.s3.amazonaws.com/d0d46fa80ff6427cacfc5d2333bdc50d/SommercampPr%C3%A4sentati...

Since there are a lot of overlays and notes included the .nmf is quite large (> 20 MB). Is there any size limitation?

The total size of my account is well below 1 GB, around 28 MB.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Is your NMF shared with everybody? We are having trouble opening it so we can look into this issue. Based on what you've described, there shouldn't be a problem with you adding, sharing, and opening the presentation.

Hi Molly,

any insights on this one? I would really like the presentation to be published on AGOL.

Thanks,
Daniel

OK, I can see the item now in ArcGIS Online and get the same error message. Can you open the presentation on your machine? In other words, can you verify that the issue relates to adding the file to ArcGIS Online?

Just to confirm to you-there should not be a problem with adding Explorer Maps to ArcGIS Online. Click this link to see example of one that opens as expected: http://www.arcgisonline.com/home/item.html?id=4e4715eca4914939a23c45ac5f824cca

Hi Molly,

yes, I can open the .nmf on my machine.

Also, yes I have opened other AGX .nmfs from AGOL before, all working fine.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I suggest you contact Support Services so they can look at the specific issue with you. The NMF should open in ArcGIS Online, especially if you can open the file from your desktop.

I worked with ESRI Germany via ESS channels to identify this very issue today.
In this specific case, the problem is that the file being uploaded to the ArcGIS Online Web Sharing application had an umlaut in the file name, which is not escaped when the file is uploaded. While I'm not sure, it appears that the AGO database replaces accented characters with ASCII characters, but the URL provided to the resource maintains the accented character. Thus there's a mismatch when the resource is requested. The XML error returned in this case is 'The specified key does not exist'. In response to this issue, NIM057246 was logged. See:
[#NIM057246  Data files with regional dialect characters (like umlauts) in the file name are inaccessible via the ArcGIS Online web sharing application.  ]
